Don’t aim to be the best, Be the Only One Who Loves

Describe a family member.

I was so touched by the Lord today. I experienced His reality during fellowship with a sister who was struggling with communication with her father. She told me she felt deeply hurt by some of his words—and she had also said things that hurt him. We both realized how easy it is to wound those we love, especially because of the pain and trauma within our families. Even when we don’t want to hurt each other, sometimes we still do.

So, we prayed for each other and for our parents. I told her that after believing in the Lord for at least three years, I’ve learned to trust Him as the only One who can truly shepherd our parents. I used to feel angry with them, but when I began to enjoy the Lord’s presence in my daily life, my heart softened. Before I return home now, I pray for my parents with my sisters in Christ.

We don’t need to be the best children for our parents; we just need to be the only ones who love them genuinely. We don’t have to prove ourselves or meet their expectations. We can simply stop, be still, and pray in His name.
