The Scenery is Beautiful, but Humanity is the Warmest
The beauty of nature is undeniable—the mesmerizing hues of sunrise and sunset, the silent grandeur of the starry sky—but nothing compares to the warmth of humanity. While humanity has profoundly reshaped the Earth, it is humanity that breathes life and warmth into creation.
The Distance Between Us and God: From Knees to the Ground
This week’s gospel outreach revealed how God’s love moves across the land. It wasn’t just a mission to share the Lord’s love but also a path of personal spiritual growth.
Cherishing Every Encounter: “一期一會"
What touched me most was the moments of unity—singing hymns and praying with others. Whether it was the echoing melodies on the streets or the heartfelt prayers in the meeting hall, each moment was filled with God’s presence.
Looking into the eyes of every soul, I reflected: Could this be my last chance to share the gospel with this person? The phrase “一期一會" (a once-in-a-lifetime meeting) reminds me to treasure these fleeting yet profound moments. Each encounter not only impacts others but also molds our spiritual character.
The Power of the Gospel: From Wandering to Rest and Strength
Walking with the gospel, I saw how it transforms not only hearts but also the spaces we inhabit. Streets and homes turned into warm, storied places through our presence and care. As it is written:
“When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." (Matthew 9:36)
The gospel draws us from wandering to the embrace of the Lord, granting rest and renewal. In this journey, the transformation is mutual—the Lord softens our hearts, and His mercy restores us.
Listening to Three Types of Words: The Wisdom of Stillness
I’ve learned the importance of listening in three ways:
- Words spoken aloud—understanding direct communication.
- Words left unspoken—perceiving the emotions beneath the surface.
- Words of the spirit—discerning spiritual impressions and God’s guidance.
Stillness allows us to hear these layers, bringing deeper spiritual understanding and enabling us to support others meaningfully.
Staying Alert and Prepared: Reflecting Christ in Daily Life
The Lord’s words remind us to stay vigilant:
“Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left." (Matthew 24:40-41)
Faithful overcomers are not distinguished by their spiritual activities alone but by consistently reflecting Christ in everyday life. By storing up “extra oil," we ensure our lamps remain bright, ready for His return.
Becoming Those Who Stay Awake in the Light
Lord, grant us hearts that hunger for You, satisfied by Your steadfast love each morning. May our spirits be ever vigilant, shining as lamps in the darkness to illuminate souls and glorify You. Preserve us, Lord, that we may reflect Your light until the day we meet You face to face.
